Frequently Asked Questions
What is Thai Massage?
Thai massage is a unique form of manual therapy originating in Thailand. It combines rhythmic pressure point work, stretching and oscillation to free the body of undue tension. The massage is performed on a thick mat on the floor. No oil is used, so the client remains clothed in light, loose clothing. Clients receive massage in multiple positions during a treatment: face down, on the side, face up, seated, and even inverted. These varied positions allow the therapist to access the body from multiple angles and to adapt the work to a client’s specific needs. Some people refer to Thai massage as “the lazy person’s yoga” because the therapist will pull the client into positions reminiscent of yoga asanas. Prepare not only to be stretched, but to have your joints mobilized and realigned. Don’t be surprised if you hear some popping—that is the sound of energy being released.
What do I wear during a Thai massage?
Thai massage doesn’t use any oil, so clients remain clothed. Wear light, modest clothing that you can be stretched in. We have special Thai pajamas available for you to wear during your session in case you arrive in clothes that aren’t optimal for Thai massage.
What if I prefer an oil massage?
No problem: all of our therapists are experts at Thai and oil massage techniques. We are happy to accommodate you with a Swedish or Deep Tissue massage.
Do I need to make an appointment?
Yes. We are a small, cozy, therapist-run spa with no dedicated receptionist or waiting area. Please call or text us at (954) 282-1599 or email us at info@LoveThaiMassage.com. If we are in a session, we will call you back as soon as possible.
What if I have to cancel or reschedule?
Life happens; plans change; we understand. However, we also respect our therapists’ time. We require a credit card to hold all reservations. If you need to reschedule or cancel an appointment, please call us the day before . If you fail to call before your scheduled appointment, or if you do not show up to your appointment, you will be charged 100% of the service price so that we can pay your therapist for the loss of his or her time. Thank you for understanding our policy.
How often should I get a massage?
The Ideal frequency of massage therapy depends on your age, lifestyle, physical condition, and personal wellness goals. From our experience working with regular clients over many years, we have observed helpful patterns:
Young adults (active lifestyle) : Most benefit from massage twice per month. This frequency helps relieve accumulated muscle tension, supports recovery from exercise, and maintains overall physical balance.
Retired adults: Many retired clients benefit from massage once per week. Regular sessions help improve circulation, maintain mobility, reduce stiffness, and support overall health and relaxation. Massage therapy works best as part of a consistent wellness routine rather than an occasional treatment. Regular sessions help the body stay balanced, prevent chronic tension from building, and support long-term physical and mental well-being.
Thai massage for neck and back pain.
Thai massage is extremely effective for neck and back pain because it releases muscle tension, improves spinal mobility, and restores Sen energy flow. Most of our clients always come back and give a comment about how Thai massage can help relieve the pain.
Thai massage for sciatica pain.
Thai massage can be very effective for sciatica pain because it works on muscles, fascia, and nerve pathways. If sciatica pain just started (acute phase), between 1-3 days we suggest a gentle Thai massage, after 3-7 days a deeper work can be done.
